building tips

Having built all of these items for display purposes here's some tips that may help you build a lovley finished product.

• Read the instructions twice before starting and  familiarise yourself with all the parts.
• Set a work area where assembled items can dry without being disturbed.
• The supplied PVA glue is sufficient to build the entire item, the glue dries clear so don't worry about using blobs of it to hold plants in pots, chairs / railings to the floor etc.
• Align any lighting effects carefully with the buildings / background before gluing into place.
• Take your time, allow each item / step to dry throughly before proceeding, the longer you take the better the finished product will be.
• Expect a box theatre to take 3 -5 evenings and a book nook 7 - 10 evenings, the Fantasy Cube's and Dream Bottles are also about 3 - 5 evenings.
• To avoid  the need of clamping wood to wood surfaces  while drying, after coating  most of a section with PVA leave the ends clear, ensure perfect alignment , put the surfaces together, then add one or two small drops of super glue (cyanoacrylate) to the ends of the joint.

Super glue is also very good for holding the hinges in place on the Fantasy Cubes, rough the surface of the hinge with the supplied sandpaper, apply a very small drop of super glue to the surface, align the hinge correctly and hold in place until dry.

ENSURE NO GLUE PENETRATES INTO THE MOVING PART OF THE HINGE

If your'e getting frustrated - walk away from the build and return to it another day.
